Bowling

Thursday, 5th June

On Thursday, my cousins, Lily and Isabel, met me from school so that we could go out bowling. We only played one game, but it was fun. Beginners luck wore off for me very quickly, but Lily seemed to get better scores as the game went on, despite not improving her technique at all.

Afterwards, we walked around Whitstable Harbour for a while and got chips and coffee.

Dinner party

About a week ago, my mum had a 'dinner party' for my Nan and Granddad. As a gift for her and my dad's wedding anniversary last year, my grandparents bought her some very nice steak knives. Since, my mum's been cooking steak meals for our family regularly to make use of them. She also recently had all of her sisters down for a steak meal.

My mum is quite a social person and I know she'd ideally love to have more people round for dinner, and much for often too, but we don't have a very big kitchen. It's very narrow because it used to be a stable apparently, so she says she doesn't have room to cook a big meal.

My first day of June

My first day of June entailed my aunt, Denise, taking me to Greenwich market to visit my favourite shoe shop, Shoe Embassy. I've had 3 pairs of shoes from there on my shopping list for some time now, so on Sunday I made a start by purchasing the first pair.

I adore Shoe Embassy shoes! I love these so much, they're more casual than the other shoes I have from there, and a lot more suitable for summer (naturally, being the shop's summer range!) so I can't wait to wear them.

My aunt and I also walked around Greenwich Market, and she treated me to a pair of sunglasses. I also bought a ring, 2 pairs of earrings and a new journal.

Photo shoot 29th May

On Thursday afternoon, Georgina and I went on a photo shoot in Baggins Book Bazaar in Rochester. Again, after volunteering at a museum in town, I was looking around the shop when I found a corner at the back that I thought would be perfect for photo shoots. So I organised with Georgina to go there, and true to her personality, despite doing nothing that morning, she'd forgotten I was picking her up at 1pm, so did her make up and hair in the car on the way to Rochester (I'd like to point out Georgie has once cancelled a photo shoot the morning it was supposed to happen on account of the fact she was going away to Devon and didn't know about it).

It was really fun. At least for me. Georgina hasn't modelled for me for a while, so she said she felt a bit odd in front of the camera again and was a little unsure of what to do, but she did perfectly well, in my opinion and I'm really happy with the photographs I got.

When we went into Baggins, I asked if we could take photos there and the man said it was fine, I think he thought I meant of the books, or just of Georgina, but I turned a section of his shop into a photography studio: two chairs for my equiptment, a big pop up reflector that sectioned us off from the rest of the shop. We drew a crowd, I believe, although I was too busy to notice, Georgina did keep laughing because people were watching us.

Afterwards, we look around the book shop properly and bought a book each. Georgina bought a graphic novel and got laughed at when she had to put her glasses on to read book covers, and I bought an illustrated journal. Then walked around Rochester because there's lots of odd, cute shops there. We had a look in the charity shops, too, and went for a drink before leaving.

Cafe Nucleus, Rochester

I volunteer from time to time at a museum in Rochester. When I'd finished on Wednesday, I went inside Cafe Nucleus, which is a cafe as well as art gallery. It was so lovely and had such a refreshing, positive atmosphere. It was very modern and the natural light from the large window made it seem bright and spacious despite it being a reasonably small building. It had MAC computers, a quirky, unique seating area as well as, of course, interesting art pieces. The finishing touch that made me love the place was attention to adorable details, like a sketch pad "for your rhymes and your doodles, your pictures, your dreams".

More importantly, the people were very friendly and welcoming and the drinks were lovely too. I had a dark hot chocolate, and I had a look at the Frappe menu and I am very looking forward to going back to sample a few!

First post

I have several blogs strewn across the internet because, a) I enjoy blogging, and generally using the internet and, b) I do so far too much. I stop using a blog because I feel it becomes cluttered and disorganized but I'd really like to keep one. I document my life quite well, I'd say, considering the amount of pictures I take, and I'd really like to add commentary to them. So I made this. I'm going to try and maintain it, and keep it organised and consistent.
